NicoSwab™

The ideal Nicotine Replacement Product should quickly (<10 mins) reduce nicotine cravings, have a prolonged effect to reduce continual product use, minimize associated nicotine side effects and second-hand vapor/smoke, and should not be attractive to teens. The less the smoker applies to his cheek, the smaller the effect, and the more he/she applies, the larger the effect, so the consumer can tailor the effect to his/her needs. For precise dosing, a small, inconspicuous spray bottle can be used to apply the liquid on the inside of the cheek. NicoSwab tastes like a peppermint breath freshener and dries within a minute while the patient keeps their lips naturally parted. The data indicate that the small subtle film that forms on the inside of the cheek delivers nicotine almost immediately and for up to 2 hours (See Figure 2, below). NicoSwab™ reduces the smoker’s craving for an average of 113 minutes while minimizing side effects. Nicorette® gum, on the other hand, provided a craving reduction after 20 minutes, with an effect that lasted only for approximately 40 minutes (Figure 3, below).
